Pacy and Wheatley Interiors became involved with a retailrefurbishment, at Bridlington Spa, through the Yorbuild framework. We worked with East Riding council to create a new bar and complete the remodeling of the main space to provide a modern and contemporary feel. The refurbishment also included a new flooring and bar to the entire reception entrance with views of the south Bay.
The original Spa on the site was built in 1896, which consisted of a theatre and seaside pavilion. A fire in the theatre destroyed the venue in1906 and a then a replacement opera house was built in 1907, and this still forms part of the building today. In 1914 the local authority took control of the buildings, acquiring the building in 1919, then in 1926 rebuilt all but the theatre. In 1932 another fire destroyed these later buildings, and immediately work started to construct their replacement, which is what you see today.
The Solution
Our experience in this field was called upon to assist with the design and construct of the project. The work had to be carried out whilst the spa was in operation and required managing very carefully. The existing bar was removed and the area stripped back to allow new finishes and installation to the floors and walls, the bar now offers new ranges of food and cakes for a relaxing afternoon overlooking the bay.
The project was completed and officially opened by the Mayor of Bridlington on the 24th March 2017 ready for business.

Pacy and Wheatley Interiors have completed an Interior Fit Out project in Shoreham for Albox Services. The client purchased an existing unit which was a former soft drinks facility. The particular building had been empty for some time and needed major renovation works to be done including a new roof, external cladding and new drainage. A full demolition of the existing internal blockwork and offices took place before a new Mezzanine floor was installed, making the storage facility ground and first floor. Pacy & Wheatley then commenced the fit out of the unit which consisted of building 2 new fire staircases, the formation of a new external reception, this was required so that the storage space could be maximised. New toilets and rest room were installed to include the formation of a number of meeting rooms. We also formed a new loading area which included a facility for 24 hour access by means of a set of auto sliding doors and key pad secure entrance system. Health and safety on this project needed to be of the highest order as there were also a number of nominated other trades such as Mezzanine floor fitters, Electricians and Lift installation engineers working on site, some at high level. The effective way in which the site was managed from a health and safety perspective resulted in zero accidents throughout the whole project.
The Solution
The issue on this project were that we had a substantial amount of external repair works to carry out prior to the main fit out commencing which needed to be completed very quickly in order to be able to work safely inside the building. We also had to work alongside the Mezzanine installers, Electricians and lift installers, the new roof was also being installed at the same time. This resulted in various logistical meetings to ensure all trades could work together to progress the project to programme in a safe and timely fashion. We had weekly meetings with all the various package contractors in attendance along with the appointed Architect and client which was essential to ensure that the project achieved handover to the store on time. This project commenced and completed in 13 weeks and was most challenging but with everyone pulling together the end goal was achieved on time and on budget and to the clients satisfaction.
