Refurbishment at Bridlington Spa

Client: Bridlington Spa
Sector: Leisure
Type: Retail & Leisure
Procurement: Tender / Negotiated
Location: Bridlington
Project Value: £200,000

The Project

Pacy and Wheatley Interiors became involved with a retail refurbishment, at Bridlington Spa, through the Yorbuild framework. We worked with East Riding council to create a new bar and complete the remodeling of the main space to provide a modern and contemporary feel. The refurbishment also included a new flooring and bar to the entire reception entrance with views of the south Bay.
The original Spa on the site was built in 1896, which consisted of a theatre and seaside pavilion. A fire in the theatre destroyed the venue in1906 and a then a replacement opera house was built in 1907, and this still forms part of the building today. In 1914 the local authority took control of the buildings, acquiring the building in 1919, then in 1926 rebuilt all but the theatre. In 1932 another fire destroyed these later buildings, and immediately work started to construct their replacement, which is what you see today.

The Solution

Our experience in this field was called upon to assist with the design and construct of the project. The work had to be carried out whilst the spa was in operation and required managing very carefully. The existing bar was removed and the area stripped back to allow new finishes and installation to the floors and walls, the bar now offers new ranges of food and cakes for a relaxing afternoon overlooking the bay.
The project was completed and officially opened by the Mayor of Bridlington on the 24th March 2017 ready for business.
